A head start

Derek grew up in Charlotte, began programming software by age 13, and was repairing and custom-building PCs by 15. A B.S. in Computer Science from UNC Charlotte followed, and then years of work as a software developer.

The shop opened, with thanks to the friends and family who helped get it off the ground. We are here to help you. The service industry does not get more basic than that, and it is the reason we chose to put Services in the name.

The people behind MCS

Derek Moore has over 25 years of experience in technology. He grew up in Charlotte, began programming by age 13 and repairing and custom-building PCs by 15, graduated UNC Charlotte with a B.S. in Computer Science, and most recently worked as a software developer. David Moore holds a B.S. in Accounting from UNC Charlotte, and has worked as a business software instructor, an accountant, and the Chief Financial Officer of a small software firm.

How we work

We believe the best business comes from repeat customers, and customers only come back when they are happy. So the pricing is plain, the quote comes before the work, and nothing is owed until the repair is done.

Flat-rate pricing for in-shop repairs

When working on in-shop repairs, we charge flat rates instead of hourly rates. That way we can assess your problems and quote an exact price before we ever do the work, and you do not have to worry about the clock ticking by. For on-site work we charge hourly, at reduced rates for residential customers.

A minimal diagnostic fee

We charge a minimum $40 diagnostic fee for most devices, and an $80 minimum for custom-built desktops. That minimum only applies if the device cannot be repaired, or you choose not to have us repair it. If you do go ahead, the fee goes away in lieu of the quoted repair cost.

Free pickup and delivery

If you live within 10 miles of our shop, we offer free pickup and delivery. We will come to your home, office, or any other pre-arranged location, collect the computer, fix it, and return it better than ever. Beyond that radius a small surcharge applies.
